Havoc Training & Overview

Clinics & Practices

The location, frequency and duration of practices for each team will be set by the Head Coaches of each age division following the end of their team season(s) in May..  Most of our clinics are held at Lima Sr. and are specific by position(s), skill or other and orchestrated by Coach Rob.  A majority of our clinics are held at Lima Sr. Softball field, Lima Sr. Football Field, Lima Sr Gym, Lima Sr. Workout or Wrestling room or, our secret indoor facility. Our all skills clinics begin In September.  Clinics be small groups focused to start and then split by position (P/C, Middies, Corners, Outies, Hitting, lifting, conditioning). We will not start to throw until December, November for Pitchers or, if you are being recruited, you may throw right away b/c you will be attending camps throughout the fall and early winter. We use a pyramidal approach to off-season training. The base is the individual, then by position, then by semi/small group, then group then team.  We will spend a majority of our Sept - Nov on Individual. Dec-Jan is Position and semi-group w/late Jan and the first 2 weeks of February in Group work.

All student-athletes will need to follow OHSAA or IHSA rules.  In Ohio, any contact between student and coach(s) cease on early in February. They will pick up immediately after the completion of their middle school or high school season.

Our schedule is emailed out via Teamsnap to all parents and students.  Rarely will Coach Rob post the clinic schedule on our FB page because of the sheer number of students that will attend.

Preseason we will hold a team camp, lasting 3 days, where the girls will be together for a few hours training/practicing/learning a few hours a night or afternoon. This time is crucial as we will not have worked together as a team for quite a while and might, especially u12/14, may need to play only a day or two after their school season is over. This is a mandatory team camp that will work around school.  We don't practice a lot as a whole team often.

Almost all of our girls play 2 sports, if not 3. We work with schools to make sure that they participate in each sport as well as get rest.  We are an organization that believes in rest, at least 1 if not 2 days a week.  That being said, we are a very competitive low A program and compete against the best teams in three states.  To stay competitive, we need off-season skill work.  You as a player and family need to figure out how you make that happen.

Havoc student-athletes are required
in the off season to utilize:

  • Left weights doing softball specific exercises (Volt)

  • Band Work 5x/wk (Jaeger or Resistance bands with handles, light) for shoulder stability.

  • Study for ACT/SAT and maintain a 3.25 GPA

  • Acquire NCAA number and contact admissions counselors and coaches at schools of interest.

  • Read 30 minutes a day/night

  • Familial Investments to help their student athletes:  Tee, Bownet, Jaeger or other bands.

Tournaments

We plan on participating in 5 tournaments with one being out of state (WV) the weekend after July 4th.

Registration of these tournaments vary, and coach Rob likes to solidify the schedule in September so you can schedule your summer accordingly.

Costs

Cost to play for the Havoc will be $650.  These costs include:  cost to enter all tournaments, ASA/USA, sanctioning, membership fees, mandatory liability insurance, background checks and any incidentals including but not limited to facility rental, umpiring fees for friendly/scrimmages, equipment needs (bats, pitching machine upkeep, nets, etc.,) two sets of uniforms.  It does not include the cost of your food or hotel rooms when we travel to West Virginia or any other out of state function (College World Series, Chicago or other camps).  It also does not include any swag or other branded items from our team store. All checks are to be written to the Lima Community Foundation

No member (coaches, assistant coaches, director) of the S3 Lima City Havoc Organization are paid.  We gladly volunteer time to help your daughters.  During a given year, coaches may put in over 600 volunteer hours making everything go smoothly for our daughters to play.

If you are a Havoc player, your mindset is to: attend at least 1college camp, go to the College World Series, be confident in everything you do. For these types of experiences, we will need to fundraise to off-set some of those costs.  We have a few ideas in the works. We will ask two parents from each team to be the leaders if we so choose to move forward with any of these ideas.
